#BiHealthMonth, founded and lead annually by the BRC, raises awareness about the bisexual+ (bi, pansexual, fluid, queer, etc.) community’s social, economic, and health disparities; advocates for resources; and inspires actions to improve bi+ people’s well-being. This year’s campaign will center on resilience. The bisexual+ community makes up the majority of the LGBTQ community and experiences significantly higher rates of physical, sexual, social, and emotional violence and disparities than gay and straight people, as well as worse physical, mental, and social health. In the face of these high hurdles, bisexuals+ have always persisted: shaping history, organizing alongside vulnerable communities, and defying odds. We weather storms under the bisexual+ umbrella, an encompassing term for anyone attracted to more than one gender, regardless of what labels they use. An umbrella that makes room for everyone’s unique identities and experiences is the best tool for increasing our community’s wellness.
Throughout the month of March, the BRC will partner with a diverse array of leading organizations, including AIDS United, American Psychological Association, Anti-Violence Project, Believe Out Loud, Bi+ Georgia, Bisexual Organizing Project, Bisexual Research Collaborative on Health (BiRCH), Bisexual Queer Alliance Chicago, Bi Women Quarterly, the Center on Colfax, CenterLink, CRUISELab, Equality Florida, Fenway Health, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the LGBT Center of New York City, LOCS Collective, Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth, Mini Productions, the Movement Advancement Project, New York Area Bisexual Network, PFLAG, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, Point Foundation, PRIDEnet, SAGE, SpeakOUT, Still Bisexual, Sydney Bi+ Network, Trans Latin@ Coalition, the Trevor Project, TAIMI, Victory Institute; and more to feature engaging and informative content, events, research, resources, and actions. The BRC invites individuals, organizations, media outlets, companies, and more to participate all month long by posting online using #BiHealthMonth, hosting local community events, donating to the Bisexual Resource Center, and more.
#BiHealthMonth highlights will include a new “Sexual Health Tips for the Bi+ Community & Best Practices for Providers” brochure; original content from bi+ advocates; 可众按小时购买的加速器 in Massachusetts including a Bisexual Social and Support Group (BLiSS) meeting (March 4), Bi Womens+ Brunch in Roxbury (March 8), Bisexual and Bi-Curious Men’s Group meeting (March 10), Young BLiSS Social and Support Group in Somerville (March 12), Tea with Bisexual Women Partnered with Men (BWPM) (March 15), Bi/Pan+ Guyz Social Night (March 18), and Biversity Brunch (March 21); and more content collaborations and on-the-ground events.

#BiHealthMonth, founded and led annually by the BRC, raises awareness about the bisexual+ (bi, pansexual, fluid, queer, etc.) community’s social, economic, and health disparities; advocates for resources; and inspires actions to improve bi+ people’s well-being. This year’s campaign will center on bisexual+ representation in media, politics and advocacy, healthcare, and education, and its impact on bisexual+ people’s everyday lives. “Bisexual+ representation is better every day, but bisexual+ people continue to face alarmingly high barriers to living happy, healthy lives,” said Belle Haggett Silverman, President of the Bisexual Resource Center. “Whether on stage at the Oscars, in the classroom, in political office, or at the doctor’s office, bisexual+ representation (or lack thereof) impacts our day-to-day well-being and shapes our culture. #BiHealthMonth unites supporters across expertise and identities to celebrate achievements and find solutions that empower our community.”

The BRC envisions a world where love is celebrated, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression. Because bisexuals today are still misunderstood, marginalized and discriminated against, the BRC is committed to providing support to the bi+ community and raising public awareness about bisexuality and the needs and experiences of bi+ people.
(Bi+ is an inclusive term for those who are non-monosexual/non-monoromantic and can include those who identify as bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, fluid, queer, two-spirit, and asexual, among other free identifiers, including those who do not wish to use a label.)
